This art form allows us to add movement to emotion and to bring purpose to any message. Like the composer of an illustrious orchestra, I jump into every project I take on with intense passion and a profound vision. I put every fiber of being into my videography, editing, and film production, and I'm told that this is heavily reflected in my work.
MY STORY
When I was a young teenager filming my buddies’ skateboarding tricks, I never imagined it was something that could turn into a career. But that is what happened! The more I filmed, the more I edited, the better I became at my craft. I was thrilled about every chance I had to explore my passion more deeply. I was a blossoming visionary.
After high school, I immediately launched a photography and videography business that catered to the real estate industry – and it was a huge success! However, while I enjoyed what I was doing, I always felt something was missing. Real estate is more of a fast-paced market that involves almost no emotion at all and which offers little room for innovation. I realized that I had a lot more to offer in a creative sense, and I felt compelled to bring that side of me into my work.
I began to expand my services to weddings, events, and businesses in other industries, which allowed me to enhance my films with lively story-telling. It was a match made in heaven! I had officially found my niche. After spending some time developing my style and reputation, I launched Chase Kunkel Films in 2019.
MY CREATIVE PROCESS
I view my work as a collaborative experience, as I work closely with you and your squad. I refer to my very first sit-down with my clients as a “story-finding meeting”. I do my best to see the world from your perspective, understand your vibe, and learn as much as possible about you and your goals for the project.
From there, I enter the brainstorming phase. A lot goes into my pre-production planning, as I am 100% committed to accuracy and precision. I take all of the information from our interactions, roll it around in my mind, approach it from all angles, inject my creativity, and produce the concept that will serve as the foundation for my work. I can see it play out in my head before I even lift my camera.
The next step may seem obvious: filming! I set out on a mission to obtain the most excellent and striking imagery for the video with the goal of casting you, your memorable event, or your business in the best light possible. I consider myself somewhat of an observer, which truly helps me to tell your story. As a fly on the wall, I see things that most people do not, which brings an organic feel to the raw emotion I can capture with my medium. I firmly believe it is genuine sentiment that makes a film worth watching, and this is the common theme throughout all of my creations.
Finally, I move on to the most rewarding part of my job: the post-production editing phase. This is what really breathes life into a project, as I weave the scenes together to shape the full story. I also have an impressive knack for pairing the footage with the perfect music and sound effects. And voila! It is time for the big reveal!
